The Stylish Blogger Award

I have been presented with the award mentioned above.

What in the world is stylish about me, I don't know. But the extraordinary, fantastic Tony Benson saw it in me. *wink* You've presented me with my first award and shall remain a substantial part of my life. ...Terry, was it? Nah, I'm joking. I'm joking and it's not funny and it's early in the day.

Without further ado, I continue my acceptance post. So, in order to accept this award, I have to 1) Thank and link to my nominator, 2) Share seven things about myself, and 3) Present the award to ten recently discovered bloggers, and notify them.

So, seven things about me.

ONE: I'm thinking about querying overseas for an agent because the Australian market is not only tiny, but I'm also quite cross with its prices.

TWO: I'm an accelerated art student and I sketch, ink and paint my novel's characters, settings and some scenes. Check out the gallery link on the sidebar.

THREE: I have two jobs, one at a pool kiosk where I get $10 an hour and another where I make soccer videos for professional use at an academy.

FOUR: I live on the north shore of Sydney, Australia.

FIVE: I have a younger brother. He's called Tom. He's taller than me now.

SIX: I watch too much TV, including Doctor Who, Criminal Minds, Sherlock, Band of Brothers, Supernatural, Batman: the Animated Series, Nikita, Caprica, Big Bang Theory, etc. The list does indeed go on. (And here you thought I was born with these snarky references of mine) My family are movie buffs.

SEVEN: My favourite article of clothing is this hideously bright jacket my father got in Burma when he was a 20-year-old backpacker -> Is made of marijuana.

    A weed jacket? XD That's classic. Whenever I shop at Salvation Army I find jackets with...interesting things sewn in them.

    I agree with you about Aussie book prices. I assume that's what you meant by 'prices' anyway. Hehe. It's just rude. I can't believe you can get a book for $10 or less and that's note even on sale!

    Wow! I would LOVE to be able to sketch my characters. Sadly, my talents in that area are of the stick figure variety, lol.

    I love Sydney - I've been there 3 times now, and all in all I've spent about two and a half months there. I'm not a city dweller by nature, but Sydney is one of the few cities I would live in.

    Not sure what an 'accelerated' art student is, but your art is fabulous. Love it!

    Thank you! And I so love this post. Me = film addict and former mega-wannabe actress. I even wrote to a few producers in L.A. when I was sixteen, telling them exactly why I should be their next starlet, even though I'd only ever acted in my high school play. Not surprisingly, they never replied.

    The marijuana jacket sounds quite stylish. If I could find a swim ring made out of Mountain Dew, I'd be all over it.

Show Me Yours, a Blogfest

Ooh, look! It's a post. Finally. I am aware that it's been a while, but I've been swept up in the NYE-slash-work-slash-revisions world that has now become my life. Anyways. A while ago, I signed up to a blogfest over at Falen Formulates Fiction , by the charming name of Show Me Yours . I know that to many northern hemisphere natives that it's only the 2nd of January, however, down here in Australia, it's the 3rd. Therefore, I am early. I couldn't find an excerpt from my NaNo, mostly because I haven't touched it since the 1st of December. This blogfest deadline really snuck up on me, and I don't really have time to comb through and then edit a scene, so I'll be lazy and give you an excerpt from my novel, RETURN, which is seizing my sanity and my sleep. Honey You Should See Me In a Crown I (Or, What BBC Sherlock Teaches Us: Antagonists and Villains and Bad Baddies)

BBC's  Sherlock -  the reincarnation of Arthur Conan Doyle's detective in 21st century London. In its second series, it only has six episodes, but confounds me in its ability to be perfect. I'm a snob about film and TV, but I'll also be first to say it's the finest piece of storytelling on TV in a while. We writers can learn from it, so welcome to my all-rounder series: Honey, You Should See Me in a Crown . I will be dissect this king of entertainment, created by Steven Moffat (of Doctor Who fame, a fan favourite since Blink, The Girl in the Fireplace and  Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead ) and Mark   Godtiss Gatiss (who also plays Mycroft Holmes in the series). From plot, to pacing, to characterisation, to relationships and dynamics, from themes to subtext, to stereotypes and archetypes, and all literary bad-arsery.
